Your body does an impressive work of healing with minimal intervention beyond simple wound care and protection from the sun. However, there are a few additional treatments that you can pursue to encourage further minimization of your scar.
We recommend using silicone treatment over your scar once the wound has fully healed. We carry medical-grade silicone products, which you can purchase from our office, and you can also find silicone sheets over-the-counter.
Yanet uses microneedling and microdermabrasion to mechanically treat scars. These treatments begin after the wound has closed and is healed completely. Microneedling creates microscopic channels over your scar, and this stimulates the dermis to produce new collagen and elastin to help with the health of your skin and appearance of your scar. Microdermabrasian is a procedure that produces deep exfoliation to help with the texture, thickness and color of your scar. Yanet will evaluate your scar and recommend the best combination of therapy.
Yanet uses AnteAGE growth factors and cytokines in combination with her microneedling treatments to help promote the healing of scars. AnteAGE is a growth factor solution that contains pro-healing, anti-inflammatory growth factors and cytokines and hyaluronic acid, which provides lubrication and promotes rapid re-hydration and volume enhancement within the upper layers of the skin. AnteAGE encourages skin health and improvement in scars, and it can also be used as an anti-aging treatment.
Some scars require additional interventions, such as steroid injections or laser treatments. Should you have a thick or painful scar, we can discuss these more advanced options and work with a dermatologist or provide information on laser treatments with our local colleagues.
